Louis Armstrong was born in 1900, in New Orleans. He was a famous black trumpet player and
jazz singer. He played in several jazz groups in New Orleans, Chicago and New York.
In 1925, he set up his own band “hot 5” and later “hot 7”. They perfected the New Orleans style
and created what is now the classical jazz style. Armstrong died in 1977 in New York.
